Description

This unique piece was handbuilt by Siobhan Miles-Moore in the Miles-Moore Ceramics Studio at Brathay Hall in the beautiful English Lake District.

Siobhan calls her spherical and semi spherical forms Microcsoms, because all of them represent wider stories or responses. They explore perspective, encouraging us to consider internal and external surfaces and our favourite view of this intersection.

This style of piece was inspired by the time Siobhan spent at Farfield Mill in early 2020. The simbiotic relationship between landscape and the woollen industry is so very obvious here. She used wool to create patterns reminiscient of sheep tracks or the dry stone walls wandering the fellsides. The patterns appear as voids in layers of local slate and stone slips.
